The Online Teacher Education Project at MIT has developed three online courses:
- Best Practices for Teaching and Learning
The Best Practices for Teaching and Learning course highlights important findings on the nature of learning and teaching that promote student understanding and demonstrate how instructors can incorporate these findings in their courses to increase learning. The course contains five sessions. The course is designed for participants with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and career goals, with an emphasis on the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and math fields.
- Mathlets
The Mathlets course introduces the use of the MIT Mathlet collection at university-level courses. It consists of three modules focusing of using Mathlets in different contexts: as lecture demonstrations, as a focus for student group work and as part of a homework assignment.
- Games and Learning
The five week Games and Learning course introduces students to the connections between games and learning, integrating curriculum and games, understanding constructionism and complex systems, and learning to simulate and designing games.
These course are presented here as self-paced modules. They are recommended for graduate students, post-doctoral associates, instructors, and professors who wish to develop their teaching skills.
